Hangzhou and Shaoxing, China,42 days,2014.2015 Winter

This duck tongue dish is  very popular at Chinese dinner setting.
In U.S.A. No class is celebrating X-Mas. In China, every class celebrated the occasion with decoration and loud singing and games for a few hours. 

This cookies are inspired from rat.  To Chinese people, rat is symbol of multiple birth and prosperity of family members.

 A year ago, it was muddy terrain. Now high rise construction almost done adjacent to Shaoxing campus of ZhiJiang college.
Walmart was promoting ramyon, handing in plastic container. Sometimes the bundle come with aluminum pan or lunch box.

 Hangzhou students of ZheJiang University of Technology. It was X-Mas eve.  The girl in the center, Risa was keen learner for Korean. Her favorite program on tv was Korean drama. 
 Seungmo was buying sweet potato at open mart at Hangzhou.
Round table setting are common in China, especially with revolving table. When everyone has
drinks, they tap bottom of glass on the glass and drink it all at one shot.
 For Tang Yuen occasion, on every December 21st, table setting comes  with hot plate with deep pan with bowls to share. Meaning of sharing small dumpling soup is to get well cold winter.

This dumpling soup was quite savory. Soup itself was boiled from creek water shrimp. Black ingredient is sea weed.

After I got the bundle, I could enjoy the container for lunch, dumpling and cooked food, good to
use at micro wave oven.

The campus and with pond, surrounded with high rises. The pond was Y shape, so water turn around the campus. Keeping the area chilled and humid.

After 3 time visit to this area, I got to know this normal people's open market. 

Liquor packaging.  To absorb possible shock, I used PU slippers. Another was packing with biscuits in the container.
 January 1st, it was humid and cold. Due campus is surrounded nearby lake.
 Students were happy with their humble achievements.
 Some of these student group will be design leader for China in near future.
 Nothing is same for window and concourse. Similar ideas are utilized by Jean Nouvel, a French architect.
 Dean Wang Shu was master for projection and penetration of the space and combination as whole architectural composition.

Opening the skin of building this way, to me it was the first time in my life. I thought Dean Wang Shu's idea were great.

 I was waiting for AirTram at JFK airport on Dec.8th. I usually took a train from home in NJ.  It took
me almost 2 hours to get to airport, I could enjoy much of relaxation from time repressed works and
tension. In my gut, I felt I could overcome whatever hardship come to me.

Jeff Lowe as awardee of lifetime achievement as a notable climber.
I would like to express my sincere homage for his lifelong dedication to climbs and skill development. The first boo from him I read through was the " Ice Experience ". 

Even though he could not talk, he thinks right.  I met him at North
Conway,NH in 1996.  I handed in my Everest book to him, he handed in his ice climbing technique
book to me. I handed in that book to Jongmin Won of Kolon Climbing School.

1990,when I was preparing a book of world famous climber, he sent me a encouraging letter to me.
Some years later, I wish I could visit to Manchester area to see Sir Joe Brown and Sir Doug Scott.

With Sir Chris Bonington and Reinhold Messner. I read through their books thoroughly when I was ambitious enough. Sieben Grat, I chose to climb. After reading his book, I started to training running
the hills.  He was quite influential climber to me to follow.

Venue for silent auction. Drinks were serving countlessly and equipped with handy tablets to make bids. Ice Axe from Reinhold Messner were sold at 14,000 dollar at auction.
